Zhong Lun Awarded “Chaoyang District Model Organization in Community Legal Services”
The main functions of the judicial administrations in grass-rooted community levels in Beijing are to promote legal awareness, and provide public services and legal security to the communities. In order to utilize the expertise of the law firms in the public sector, Jiansong Community Office of Chaoyang District has entered into an agreement with the firm’s Beijing office, under which the firm will designate two lawyers to sit in on a regular basis to provide on-the-spot legal services to grass-roots communities. Zhong Lun has been devoting much effort in mediation of minor civil disputes; provision of public legal services on rehabilitation, education, placement-seeking and rehabilitation of the convicted released after serving their terms; provision of legal aid to the minor groups of unemployed, handicapped and migrant workers; and provision of legal advice on issues such as property management, parking disputes, pet raising, elderly supporting and neighborhood disputes in communities.
On February 27, 2008, the People’s Government of Chaoyang District and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice held a conference to commend the people and organizations for their commitment to public legal services and legal aid. The Firm’s Beijing office was named “Chaoyang District Model Organization in Community Legal Services", for its deep commitment in providing on-the-spot legal services in the community. Individually, Zhang Xuebing, Geyu and Zhao Tianhong were awarded “Model Persons" in the field of legal pro bono work.
