Eight Partners Joining Zhong Lun
In the semi-annual partners meeting held during August 31 through September 2, 2007 in Beijing Pu Lin-chen, Jiang Zhe and Julia Kong joined Zhong Lun as equity partners, and Xiao Fei, Wei Zhong, Lei Song, Chen Yao and Fan Xiao-juan become salary partners. With joining and promotion of these eight lawyers, the firm has grown with more fresh blood for future development and competitive edge in related practice areas has been strengthened.
Mr. Pu Ling-chen
Mr. Pu joined Zhong Lun as a partner in 2007, and he works in our Beijing Office. His focused practice areas include EC’ anti-dumping, safeguard measures, anti-prevailing duty, customs law, general preferential treatment, and WTO-related laws.
Mr. Pu graduated from the Foreign Economic and Trade University with B.A. degree in economics major, the University of Politics and Laws of China with LLB, the Brussel Freedom University of Belgium with LLM in major of EC laws; a training program at EC Commission with focus on EC laws, and a training session in Austria with diploma focus on the American judicial systems and the US laws.
Mr. Pu represented the clients in the US, Japan, Turkey, Indonesia and Malaysia in defense against EU’s anti-dumpling investigations, and he represented more than sixty Chinese enterprises in EU’s anti-dumping investigations, covering originality investigation, interval review, anti- circumvention, anti-absorption, new exporters, sunset review, and assistance in appeal to the EU Court. he represented a Chinese enterprise to win the first case for market economy status in anti-dumping cases in EU and India; he represented Chinese steel makers in the first safeguard measure investigation against steel products and the special protection and safeguard measures against canned orange imposed by EU Commission.
Ms. Julia Kong (Jiang-nan)
Ms. Julia Kong has joined Zhong Lun as a partner in 2007, and she works in our Beijing Office. Her focused practice areas include cross-border M&A of international enterprises, real estate and legal operation of overseas investment.
Ms. Kong graduated from Law School of Peking University with LLB degree, University of Cambridge with LLM degree, and University of Windsor with SJD degree in Canada. She has obtained Ontario Bar of Canada and New York Bar of the US. She had been working in certain international law firms i.e. Baker & McKenzie, Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP and Coudert Brothers LLP, and principal office of Blakes in Canada.
Ms. Kong represents several overseas private security fund or strategic investors in acquisition of office building, hotel and business premise; organizing due diligence, participating in negotiations and preparing dealing documents. She had assisted major industry developer of America in merger related matters; organized due diligence, conducting review of situations of construction land related to establishment of enterprises in Beijing; prepared memo with respect to land situation, plan and legal venture in the process of establishing; participated in negotiations and drafting leading documents.
Mr. Jiang Zhe
Mr. Jiang Zhe joined Zhong Lun as a partner in 2007, and he works in our Beijing Office. Her focused practice areas include anti-dumpling in international trade and protection measures.
Mr. Jiang graduated from Northeastern University of Finance & Economics with LLB degree, and obtained bar of China in 1997. He has been in legal practice for 10 years and being a partner from 6 years. Jiang is proficient in working in Chinese, Korean and English, and had been working in Korean SK Dalian Office. He maintains proficiency of foreign languages.
Mr. Jiang had represented clients in more than 30 international trade cases i.e. anti-dumpling and protection measures. His clients spread over many countries and regions, such as China, Korean America, Indonesia and Taiwan, including POSCO、SAMSUNG、KUMHO、SK、CJ、LG、Hyundai、SMURFIT STONE, Taipei, Jiangsu Hengli Group, Shougang Group, Shagang Group and the like. Besides, Mr. Jiang was retained as general legal counsel for many prestigious Korean enterprises, such as POSCO China, SK China, SK Construction, and CJ China. In 2005 and 2006, Mr. Jiang was selected as a World Leading Lawyers for Business by CHAMBERS GLOBAL.
Mr. Wei Zhong
Mr. Wei Zhong joined Zhong Lun as a partner in 2007, and he works in our Beijing Office. His focused practice areas include overseas listing of Chinese companies, equity merger, venture investment, project financing and foreign investment.
Mr. Wei graduated from the People’s University of China with Bachelor Degree of Philosophy and LLM degree, pursued Doctor Degree of Public Politics in University of Pittsburgh and LLM degree in the University of Iowa of the US. He had been working in Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. in the US.
Mr.Wei had represented overseas investors in capital merger and equity merger, and at the same time served overseas structured mergers as an agent. He had represented certain venture capitals i.e. Jafco Asia, IDG, Walden International and Keating Securities LLC for the operation of venture capital investment and overseas listing of reverse acquisition.
Ms. Lei Song
Ms. Lei Song joined Zhong Lun as a partner in 2007, and she works in our Shanghai Office. Her focused practice areas include anti-dumpling, anti-subsidy, protection measures, WTO and the relevant legal services.
Ms. Lei graduated from Law School of Peking University with LLB and LLM degrees.
Ms. Lei had represented Chinese enterprises in defense against many countries’ and regions i.e. EU, US, Canada, Indonesia, in anti-dumpling cases and undertook trade dispute cases involving Chinese enterprises.
Mr. Xiao Fei
Mr. Xiao Fei joined Zhong Lun as a partner in 2007, and he works in our Shanghai Office. His focused practice areas include foreign direct investment, regular corporate legal practices and resolution of disputes.
Mr. Xiao graduated from East China University of Political Science and Law with LLB degree, and LSE with LLM degree on international business law,
Mr. Xiao had advised certain leading international law firms i.e. Morrison & Forster LLP、Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer、DLA Piper、White & Case LLP in legal issues in respect of foreign direct investment, regular corporate legal practice and resolution of disputes. He had issued legal memos to certain top Asian law firms i.e. Johnson Stoke & Master、Allen & Gledhill in respect of some major disputes.
Ms. Fan Xiaojuan
Ms. Fan Xiaojuan joined Zhong Lun as a partner in 2007, and she works in our Shanghai Office. Her focused practice areas include growth/merger/venture fund investment, M&A, capital market, corporate financing and reorganization, and foreign direct investment.
Ms. Fan graduated from Shanxi University of Finance & Economics with LLM degree, from Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade Law School with LLM degree on international economic law, and from University of California, Los Angeles Law School.
Ms. Fan has represented Sequoia Capital and its invested enterprises: (1) dianping.com (online catering guide), (2) 51.com (online community, Haina Baichuan Series A1), (3) Comsenz Century (online community software), (4) GalaxyCore (CMOS chips design, Walden联投) and (5) 56.com (online videos, Haina Baichuan Series A1) in the initial financing.
Ms. Chen Yao
Ms.Chen Yao joined Zhong Lun as a partner in 2007, and she works in our Shanghai Office. Her focused practice areas include real estate, M&A, foreign investment, corporate reorganization, and project financing.
Chen Yao graduated from Politics and Law School of Eastern China with LLB degree.
Ms. Chen Yao has participated in many real estate projects. Her major practice scope includes real estate M&A, real estate fund investment and return arrangement, real estate financing, acquiring land-use right, first-class land development, real estate development and legal service related to daily business practice, providing legal service in respect of legal investment report, deal negotiation, document drafting, and planning deal structure, participating in Carlyle Asian Real Estate Fund merger project, Holland ING Fund acquisition and/or real estate projects in respect of cooperative investment of many real estate groups inside China, cooperative development of several real estate projects of Wachovia Bank inside China in the entire process.
